Uncultured Swine is a catchphrase used as an insult toward a person that doesn't understand a reference or wrongly assumes the context of a subject. The phrase became popular due to its use in the 1995 film Toy Story.
Origin
On November 22nd, 1995, Toy Story was released. In the film, Mister Potato Head calls Hamm an uncultured swine for not knowing who Picasso was (shown below).
Spread
On December 8th, 2013, Urban Dictionary[1] User Rachel3404 posted definition for "uncultured swine" as "A member of society which is seen as an outcast, knows nothing, and lives under a rock. Often this person is seen as stupid and is almost always ignorant as to what goes on in the world. They have little to no knowledge of how to interact with others." The definition has gained over 720 upvotes and 75 downvotes in six years. On February 19th, 2014, Redditor MarthaMeh reposted a Facebook status of a person calling someone an uncultured swine for changing the music from Aerosmith to Fergie to r/lewronggeneration[3] (shown below). The post gained over 130 points (98% upvoted) in five years.
On April 4th, 2016, The Odyssey[2] posted a listicle titled "25 Signs You Are An Uncultured Swine." On February 17th, 2019, Redditor 2ndmerrik255 posted a copypasta to r/copypastas[4] using the phrase (shown below).
