The Porn Dude / Mr. Porn Geek

The Porn Dude and Mr. Porn Geek, also written ThePornDude and MrPornGeek, refer to the male mascots of the online pornography review sites theporndude.com and mrporngeek.com. The two characters became meme references on Twitter in early 2023 when they were humorously compared to and pinned against each other. A large amount of The Porn Dude lore surfaced shortly after, such as his Discord name, problematic views from the website's creator and the knowledge that explicit videos existed in which a The Porn Dude mascot head was worn by a male pornstar.

Origin

The Porn Dude website (mrporndude.com) was created on November 19th, 2013.^[1] The website is a porn review site that categorizes free pornography websites and holds interviews with pornstars. Its brother website, Mr. Porn Geek (mrporngeek.com) is an almost identical website with a similar review-based purpose that was created on August 24th, 2018.^[1]

Although the websites had been active since the 2010s, it wasn't until March 2023 that both websites became meme references. The discourse predominantly started on March 7th, 2023, when Twitter^[2] user @Drained2hu tweeted an image of the orange "The Porn Guy" mascot with a caption reading, "This nigga is a super villain." In one day, the tweet received over 4,200 likes before being deleted (shown below).

Spread

In the replies to @Drained2hu's tweet, viral discourse started about The Porn Dude shortly after. For instance, on March 8th, 2023, Twitter^[3] user @RealiaAmelia quote retweeted @Drained2hu, writing, "people will come on twitter and post things like this as though 'the porn dude' is a well known character to be criticized," and gaining roughly 26,200 likes in four days.

Tweets then started to reference Mr. Porn Geek in comparison to The Porn Dude. One of the first to do so was Twitter^[4] user @thegazattak on March 9th, who tweeted pictures of both of their logos and compared them to Rhett and Link, earning over 190 likes in three days (shown below).

Soon after, on March 11th, 2023, Twitter^[5] user @Drained2hu tweeted, "YO THEY GOT BEEF??" and attached a screenshot of a review that purportedly showed The Porn Dude calling Mr. Porn Geek an "incel" and a "beta male." The tweet received roughly 23,000 likes in one day (shown below, left). Later on March 11th, Twitter^[6] user @kyrieeYSL tweeted a screenshot of multiple ways to contact The Porn Dude, including his apparent Discord. In one day, the tweet received roughly 12,100 likes (shown below, right).

Going into mid-March 2023, more memes surfaced about the two websites, spreading to both Facebook ^[7] and Instagram. ^[8] Additionally, more information and "lore" about The Porn Dude and Mr. Porn Geek was unearthed, such as a viral tweet^[9] that revealed a The Porn Dude mascot head being placed on a real-life, male pornstar in a graphic video.
