While I understand that the personal life of the individual should not be part of the discussion for many reasons, completely blocking any form of discussion is counterproductive, since it only increases the chances for lies to spread and feeds the Streisand effect of a nasty situation. As with all topics, if the subject is difficult (in this case it is), it's the moderation's responsibility to keep it civilized and in this specific case, it's also their job to avoid any derail into related topics that touch sensitive information. I read further down the page and there seemed to be quite a bit of support for physical dominant gestures to make a point. It really got me thinking about how men have a dominant physical relationship with women in all kinds of social settings. And I wonder how that affects the overall relationship of the sexes. There's a plethora of literature that discusses the effects of physical dominance on the human psyche, and it makes me wonder whether our (male) gestures have unintended consequences on the development of female empowerment at a deeper level.
