About
-Pilled refers to a memetic suffix which originates from the slang term "red pill" from The Matrix film series. The adjective "redpilled" means existing after the epiphany of realizing the unpleasant truth of reality in a wide range of contexts. Variant words using the "-pilled" suffix surfaced after the online popularity of "red-pilled" in the late 2010s and early 2020s, including "blackpilled." The -pilled suffix was added to more nonsensical and ironic words as the trend evolved and devolved, often in conjunction with "-maxxing" or "-maxxer."
