Oh Man… He's Just Like Me! refers to an image of a neckbeard sitting on a couch watching the TV and saying, "oh man… he's just like me!" as if relating to the character on-screen. The image first appeared online in 2014 and became an exploitable in later years where the image of the character on the screen is replaced with someone who is considered typically relatable despite having no real qualities that relate to the average fan.

Origin

The earliest known upload of the image was posted by Twitter^[1] user@jiyunajp on September 5th, 2014. The meme shows a neckbeard sitting on the couch playing Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and relating to Sho Minazuki and gained over 170 likes in eight years (shown below).

Spread

The image rose to prominence as an exploitable in 2018. On August 21st, 2018, Instagram^[2] user angry_german_girl_in_a_robot posted a version of the meme where the neckbeard relates to Shinji Ikari from Evangelion, gaining over 130 likes in four years (shown below).

On September 5th, an anonymous user of 4chan's^[3] /tv/ board posted a version where the neckbeard relates to Ryan Gosling's character from Blade Runner 2049 (shown below). The template was added to shitpostbot that month.

On December 26th, 2019 rapper Lil Uzi Vert posted to Twitter,^[4] "I haven’t had sex in 2 years like end of 2018." Twitter user @chaselyons commented with the meme replacing the image on screen with the tweet, gaining over 18,000 likes and 1,400 retweets in just over two years (shown below). On October 13th, 2020, Twitter^[5] user @ATysmm posted a now-deleted version of the meme replacing the caption with, "Oh man… this is doing numbers."
