Never Kill Yourself is a catchphrase and copypasta used in caption memes alongside an image of something that gives the poster joy, most often gaming, drinking or eating, to suggest you should not commit suicide because then you cannot experience these joys. The phrase was popularized on X / Twitter between August and September 2024 as numerous users shared photos of things alongside the caption.
Origin
It is unclear when exactly the phrase "never kill yourself" was first used on X / Twitter. Examples of the phrase being used on the platform date to as early as November 10th, 2023, when X[1] user @spybbie posted, "your tits are huge never kill yourself," garnering around 160 likes in 10 months.
On August 1st, 2024, X[2] user @fraxiommusic posted the earliest known use of the phrase alongside an image of food that largely became synonymous with the memetic trend, garnering over 80 likes in a month. It is unconfirmed if this is the true origin of the meme.
Spread
The trend became increasingly popularized throughout August and September 2024. For example, on August 2nd, 2024, X[3] user @fraxiommusic posted a version of the meme sharing photos of themselves smoking by the water, garnering over 59,000 likes in a month.
On August 25th, X[4] user @pwdrosexo posted a photo at McDonald's along with the phrase, garnering over 15,000 likes in a month. On September 17th, X[5] user @SpicyOgre posted a version of the meme sharing a photo of them gaming with a bong, drinks and packages of Zyn on the desk, garnering over 4,100 likes in two days.
On September 17th, 2024, X[6] user @GRUGCEL posted a photo of a can of beer and a burger under the phrase, garnering over 7,900 likes in two days. On September 18th, X[7] user @milkshapes posted a photo of some Taco Bell and a TV with Halo 3: ODST on it, garnering over 203,000 likes in a day.

Kill Yourself is a phrase that is commonly used in online discussions in response to remarks a poster finds pathetic, with the purpose of telling those who it is directed at that they should just kill themselves for having said or done something so pathetic. The phrase is usually accompanied by the Correction Guy image macro.
