The commercial grew popular in late August 2024 on Twitter / X, with people creating memes and fan art connecting the advertisement to Touhou Project.

On August 21st, 2024, the official McDonald's Japan Twitter / X^[1] account uploaded a video advertising their new SamuraiMac triple beef burger by using IOSYS's Touhou Project video doujin "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing".
