Just Put My Fries in the Bag Bro is a catchphrase that infers that the addressee is a fast-food employee (like at McDonald's or Burger King), implying that they have no future and are inferior to the other person. The phrase is predominantly used in TikTok video skits and memes in which the setting is two former high school classmates running into each other at a fast-food restaurant. One says, "I haven't seen you since high school," and the other says, "Just put my fries in the bag, bro." Sometimes the setting is outside of a restaurant and the catchphrase is uttered after the addressee says something that foreshadows their imminent lack of career opportunities. The original meme was posted to Facebook in 2022 and it originally said, Just Put the Ketchup In My Bag Bro.

On November 19th, 2022, Facebook^[1] user Andre Jamar Milburn shared a post, reading in all caps, "I AINT SEEN YOU SINCE HIGHSCHOOL," and himself saying back, "JUST PUT THE KETCHUP IN MY BAG BRO 🤣🤣" Over two years, the post received over 6,000 reactions and 34,000 shares (shown below).

Screenshots of the Facebook post went viral on Instagram^[2] in December 2022. Twitter / X^[3]^[4] users started to swap "ketchup" with "fries" (among other fast-food items) in early 2023, however, none were viral tweets.

On August 16th, 2023, X^[5] user @ayeejuju tweeted a Thanos image captioned, "'I ain’t seen you since high school' / just put my fries in the bag bro," receiving over 197,000 likes in 10 months (shown below).

TikTokers started using the text and variations for their content in late 2023, like a video posted by TikToker^[6] @kobelit on November 15th, 2023, that swapped "fries" for "McChicken" gaining over 7.7 million plays and 1.2 million likes in seven months (shown below, right).

In 2024, skits using the concept were more original, like a video posted by TikToker^[7] @coopermitcchell on June 17th, 2024, that received over 502,600 plays and 86,000 likes in three days (shown below). I Just Want My Fries Bro 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️, also known as I Just Want My X Bro 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️, refers to a redraw art trend based on a meme showing a male Chick-fil-A employee jumping in the air and doing a split with a text caption reading, "I JUST WANT MY FRIES BRO 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️," which riffs on the "Just Put My Fries in the Bag Bro" catchphrase. The meme was originally posted on Instagram in 2024. It was reposted to Twitter / X in August 2024 where the redraw trend surfaced en masse. Creators used the image's template to insert characters from movies, TV, anime and video games (among other subcultures), additionally replacing the word "fries" in the phrasal template to match their character of choice.
