About
I'm an Artist From Israel and This Is My Art, also known as I Am an Artist From Israel and This Is My Art, refers to a catchphrase originating from a viral TikTok video posted by Israeli artist Albert Levi in January 2024 in which he showcased his paintings that many thought were ugly and vapid. The perception was compounded by the growing negative perception of Israel and the IDF among some amid the 2023-2024 Israel-Hamas Conflict. Levi's paintings were pop art artworks that had splatter paint. Featured in the original video were paintings of a blue horse, a sportscar, a lion, a parrot and a woman screaming and smiling. Screenshots of his TikTok were reposted across social media platforms like Twitter / X in 2024 as they became exploitable templates in which meme creators replaced the artwork on his canvas. The catchphrase "I Am an Artist From Israel and This Is My Art" was also used to label other vapid artwork and memes.
