The text message has been quote posted on X as people imagined fictional characters who might have sent it.

On September 24th, 2024, X^[1] user @zach_idiot posted a screenshot of a push notification of a verbose message about Moo-Deng the Baby Hippo received by them from their father, reading, "I trust you've been following the exploits of Moo Deng?" The post (shown below) received over 18,000 reposts and 266,000 likes in two days.

The post was followed by speech-bubbling memes in which users imagined characters that could have sent the message to someone. For example, on September 24th, 2024, X^[2] user @angelsputinhell quoted the post with a joke about Interview with the Vampire characters Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia, which garnered over 1,600 reposts and 14,000 likes in two days (shown below).

Later on September 24th, 2024, X^[3] user @vanilla_mp3 quoted the post, commenting, "Miles Edgeworth sent this text." The post (shown below) received over 380 reposts and 3,100 likes in two days.

The text has also appeared in memes created with Death Generator; for example, on September 25th, 2024, X^[4] user @MatttGFX posted a Metal Gear Codec edit that gained over 4,800 reposts and 43,000 likes in one day (shown below).
