About
I Don't Care How Salty I Sound refers to a copypasta started by a gamer who was salty over the character Peacock in the fighting game Skullgirls. After posting a tweet complaining about how Peacock damaged the game's competitive integrity, going so far as to say Skullgirls was "no different than Mario Party" due to the inclusion of Peacock, Twitter users mocked the tweet by copying its text and tweaking some details to make it apply to other video games.
Origin
On April 17th, 2022, Twitter user @dekillsage[1] tweeted, "I dont care how salty i sound. As long as peacock exists i will never respect this game as competitive. Theres no such thing as being "good" at a game with peacock in it. Skullgirls is the exact same thing as mario party until peacock is removed." The tweet gained over 160 retweets, 90 quote tweets, and 2,000 likes in one day (shown below).
Spread
The tweet quickly became a copypasta within the gaming community on Twitter. User @fluxedover[2] mocked the tweet by changing the key details to make it about fighting games in general, gaining over 190 retweets and 1,800 likes in one day (shown below, left). User @jonittifgc[3] posted a similar parody, making it about the block button in Soul Calibur (shown below, right).
Most of the copypasta parodies echoed the sentiments of @deskillsage but tweaked the subjects to other characters in video games. For example, user @obviouslysubtl3[4] used Jigglypuff from Super Smash Brothers Melee in the copypasta (shown below, left). User @nanoSSBM[5] posted a similar one using Falco from the same game, gaining 30 likes (shown below, right).
