About

Goostarion, sometimes spelled Goosetarion, is a fictionnal character imagined as the sassy mind of Astarion, from popular videogame Baldur's Gate 3, inside the body of a goose. First coined by Astarion's voice actor Neil Newbon during an interview, it became widely adopted by the fandom as a character of its own, spawning fanarts and animations.

Origin

On April 3rd, 2021, a 2-hour-long livestreamed interview with voice actor Neil Newbon and director Kirsty Gillmore was conducted on Twitch, mainly about upcoming RPG video game Baldur's Gate 3. During a Q&A session with questions asked by viewers, one of them addressed to Newbon, was read by the host as follows: "Out of all your characters, which character do you think would be a very chaotic goose?". To which Newbon answered: "Can you imagine a goose Astarion? A Goostarion?". He then proceeded to do some voiceline from the game in the style of a goose and honking at times, while everyone else was laughing. A clip from that moment was uploaded to Newbon's own Twitch channel[1] on that same day.
A YouTube upload by Iridium was made on April 23rd, 2021 (shown below):

Spread

In the same vein as Moushley, fan arts were made of the character, as well as references to the Untitled Goose Game

On January 26th, 2024, YouTube user Rexy Studio posted a video of themselves metting Newbon at a convention with a puppet version of Goostarion (shown below):
