Overview
4chan's Easter '18 Candy Contest was a 2018 April Fools' Day event on 4chan that allowed users to gain points for their randomly assigned Easter-themed team, with team rankings prominently displayed on leaderboards across the site.
Background
On April 1, 2018, 4chan began assigning users into teams varying from five team affiliations; Creme, Mini, Peanut Butter, Chocolate, or Peep. Although, not official, it's believed people gained points depending on the amount of posts and replies each team received. As a result, users constantly spammed on all boards supporting their representing team throughout the entire event.
Development
At the beginning, Creme was the indomitable team followed by team Mini. Meanwhile, teams Peep and Chocolate were scrambling for third. Team Peanut Butter was stuck in last place.
At the end of the event, Peanut Butter reigned gloriously over all the other teams with a score of 18520, followed by Chocolate with 18505. In third was Peep with 18453 points, then Creme with 17731 points and, in last, was Mini with 17464 points.
The day after the event, 4chan released another banner on all boards providing a link to a prize for the winning team. When clicked, the user was Rick Rolled.
Notable Deriatives
With the introduction to the event, a sudden surge of OC was created supporting the various teams. These varied from photo shops to creations of fan art representing team mascots.
