About

Do the Biden is a purported dance trend inspired by the viral video of U.S. President Joe Biden supposedly defecating in his pants while at a 2024 event recognizing the anniversary of D-Day. The trend has one person filming say to another, "Do the Biden," followed by the participant half-squatting, mimicking the pose that Biden struck at the Normandy event that some people believed was him soiling himself. Videos of people taking part in the trend began to spread online in early June 2024.

Origin

On June 6th, 2024, President Joe Biden appeared alongside the Macrons at a ceremony to honor the anniversary of the D-Day invasion and American service members who participated in the liberation of France during World War II. Rumors began to spread online that Biden pooped his pants when he did a half-squat on stage while going to sit in his seat (shown below).

On June 8th, 2024, videos of people participating in a trend known as "do the Biden" began to spread online, largely as compilations. Purportedly, "do the Biden" is a dance trend where the person filming tells someone on-camera to "do the Biden," and then the person on camera does a half-squat, mimicking the way Joe Biden half-squats in the Normandy event video.

The earliest known "do the Biden" video is a compilation posted by X[1] user @TONYxTWO on June 8th, garnering over 44,000 likes in two days (shown below). It is unclear who any of the participants shown in the video are or where the videos making up the compilation were originally uploaded.

Spread

The compilation video of the same four people "doing the Biden" gained viral spread over the following days. On June 8th, 2024, it was posted by X[2] user @ImMeme0, garnering over 4,500 likes in two days.

On June 9th, YouTuber[3] Hot US News posted the compilation with additional reaction memes, garnering over 75,000 views in a day (shown below). On June 10th, Citizen Journals[4] then published an article on the trend.
