Devs Listened is a series of memes, including reaction images and photoshops, based on a thumbnail from a March 2024 MrPokke video depicting Pokke making a soy face at Yinlin from the video game Wuthering Waves, with the text "devs listened" situated between himself and Yinlin. The thumbnail became the subject of edits over the following months and started to see use as a reaction image. The phrase "devs listened" refers to video game developers listening to feedback from players and making positive changes to the game based on this feedback, rather than ignoring complaints.

Origin

On March 22nd, 2024, YouTuber^[1] MrPokke uploaded a video titled "THE COMMUNITY WAS HEARD? | Wuthering Waves Developer's Notes," garnering over 24,000 views in five months. In the video, MrPokke looks through a publicly released note from the developers of the video game Wuthering Waves which addresses the problems that some players have had with the beta version of game and how they look to address them. In the video, MrPokke praises the team for addressing the complaints and promising to make the changes. The thumbnail shows MrPokke looking at the game's character Yinlin with a shocked face, with the words "devs listened" between the two.

Spread

On June 1st, 2024, u/t_h_1_c_c posted an edit of the thumbnail to /r/gachagaming,^[2] writing, "Comment your best 'Devs Listened' edits below," garnering over 1,200 upvotes and 200 comments in two months. The post inspired numerous edits of the thumbnail, with some of the top examples including a post by u/GeForce_GTX_1050Ti,^[3] garnering over 300 upvotes and u/Evil_Abed_,^[4] garnering over 300 and 500 upvotes respectively in two months (shown below, left and right).

The "devs listened" thumbnail and its edits started to see use as reaction images over the following months, largely on X.^[5]^[6] Most often, they are posted in response to game developers doing something positive to fix problems with their games.
