About

A Sleepy Girl Mocktail or Sleepytime Cocktail is a drink made of tart cherry juice, magnesium and prebiotic soda that is purported to help you sleep by increasing the body's melatonin levels. The drink first became popularized on TikTok in March 2023 and gained a significant boost in popularity in late 2023 and January 2024 as TikTokers began sharing videos of themselves making the mocktail. The mocktail also inspired TikTokers to post memes in which they act as if they're making the drink but instead make something else, including a viral example in which TikToker @laurenmccoy1 makes lean under the guise of it being a sleepy girl mocktail.

History

She claims that the melatonin and tryptophan in the cherry juice will help you get better sleep. The video gained over 1.5 million views in a year (shown below).

@gracie_norton OUT LIKE A LIGHT mocktail 😮‍💨💤🍒 tart cherry juice + magnesium is the perfect combo for a full night of sleep! I had really vivid dreams too! I take magnesium every evening but tend to toss & turn during the night at the end of my luteal phase. thanks for the inspo @caleeshea 💫#easyrecipe #mocktails #mocktailrecipe #healthyrecipes #sleep #bettersleep ♬ Storytelling – Adriel
