About
Cuckjak is a Wojak character that portrays a bespectacled Soyjak looking on as his girlfriend or wife embraces another man, with her shown to be looking back at him and asking, "Are you sure?" to which he responds, "Yes." The meme originates from a 2023 YouTube video titled, "Cuck Cope," but wasn't popularized until 2024 after being reposted to Reddit. In August 2024, the Cuckjak meme was used to attack Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz after Libs of TikTok accused Walz of lying about his wife receiving IVF treatment. The exploitable format is typically used by editing elements of Cuckjak but is also used in object-labeling memes.
Origin
On October 31st, 2023, YouTuber[1] MilleniaThinker uploaded the earliest known post featuring a Wojak wearing glasses and a beard looking at his girlfriend or wife hugging another man, even as she looks back at him and asks "Are you sure?" The image was the thumbnail of the YouTuber's video, which was titled, "CUCK COPE." The post gathered over 900,000 views in a year.
Spread
The earliest known meme edit of the Cuckjak was a March 26th, 2024, post to the subreddit /r/FreeFolk,[2] a Game of Thrones themed subreddit, with the Cuckjak being labeled as "Rhoynar Male" (Rhoynars are one of the three notable ethnic groups from which the people of Westeros descend and are typically more accepting of different practices). The post gathered over 1,000 likes in five months (seen below).
On April 12th, 2024, X[3] user @hicuckomori responded to a request for a gender-bent version of the meme, gathering over 1,000 likes on a version of the Wojak comic showing a girl looking on as her boyfriend or husband kisses another man.
On August 20th, X[4] user @MostlyPeacefull quoted a Libs of TikTok post that claimed Tim Waltz lied about his wife getting IVF. The user posted the Cuckjak meme alongside the caption, "I think we all know how Tim Walz’s kids were conceived," gathering over 14,000 likes in a week.
More X users began posting different versions of the Cuckjak image, including Alex Jones, who quoted a version of the meme that called people who pay taxes "cucks" on August 27th, 2024. The post gathered over 3,000 likes in a day.[5]
