About
Common Tate W or Common W is a catchphrase and spam comment used by Andrew Tate fans. Its meaning, definition and translation are "common, Andrew Tate win." Tate's fans use it to label when Tate owns someone in a debate or gives solid advice about hustle culture or pick-up culture regarding male attractiveness towards women. Most of its use is ironic from Tate's skeptics and haters who believe Sigma Male discourse overall is cringe. A meme template similar to Average Fan vs. Average Enjoyer but using Tate and xQc emerged, as well as a snowclone where users follow the phrasal template "Common X W."
Origin
"Common Tate W" spawned from the comment sections of Andrew Tate repost accounts on TikTok sometime in early May 2022. At first, the concept of Tate having a "Common W" was a reactionary response to TikTokers commenting "Rare L" on Tate TikTok videos. For instance, on April 27th, 2022, TikToker SkooterPooper commented "Rare L" on an April 26th video uploaded by TikTok[1] account trustintate. On April 28th, 2022, TikToker caden.guy commented "w from this guy" on an April 25th trustintate TikTok[2] about vaping. The comment earned roughly 5,700 likes in three months.
It's unknown what date "Common Tate W" was officially coined but evidence from Twitter alludes to the comment sections of since-deleted TikTok accounts tateteach and tate_professor. For instance, "Common Tate W" was first tweeted by Twitter[3] user ChrisGascoyne5 on May 4th, 2022. Four days later, on May 8th, Twitter[4] user TrocFN tweeted a TikTok from the account tateteach, captioning it "Common Tate W." On May 4th, 2022, TikToker comickid1998 commented "Rare tate L" on a tateteacher TikTok.[6] On May 7th, 2022, TikToker glavnigirac commented "common tate W" on a tateteacher TikTok.[7]
