The Bull Rider Pose or Bull Riding Pose, also known as the Breakup Pose, is a slang term for a sexual position in which the man performs doggy style on a woman and then whispers the name of another woman in her ear, with the intention being that the woman will try and get away from the man and the man must try and continue having sex with her, like a bull rider trying to stay on a bull. The position was first defined online in 2006 and garnered an increase in attention on TikTok in late 2024, with many expressing shock over the idea of the position and many seeing it as rape.

Origin

The "bull rider pose" goes by several names online, including the "bull riding pose," the "breakup pose" and "the bronco."

On August 16th, 2006, the "bull ride" pose was first defined by Urban Dictionary^[1] user mike capellupo, who defined it as, "having sex with a chick doggy style then calling her the wrong name and seeing how long you can stay in her," garnering around 140 thumbs-ups in 18 years.

Spread

Word of the position spread slowly throughout the 2000s. In season one, episode three of Dexter, released on October 15th, 2006, the position is described in one scene as "pulling a bronco."^[2]

On October 7th, 2024, TikToker^[3] @local.tism posted a selfie video captioned, "My friend just told me about the bull rider position and I would start a physical fight if a guy did this," garnering over 9.5 million views in a week. The video inspired other TikTokers to post videos referencing the pose.

On October 10th, TikToker^[4] @aquamoonbby posted a video about the pose, captioned, "How, in my 27yrs, have I never heard of the 'bull riding pose' until today?!?! Like I'm sorry, did you mean THE 🍇 POSE!!" garnering over 1.1 million views in five days.

Also on October 10th, 2024, TikToker^[5] @rrudydaberry posted a video about the pose, equating the pose to rape, writing, "'bull riding pose aka the breakup pose' NO aka the I'm calling 911 and telling everyone I know what u just did cuz that's literally 🍇what," garnering over 5.5 million views in the same span of time.
