Boston Msaeachubaets refers to a knockoff shirt found in an Asian storefront with an engrish misspelling of Boston, Massachusetts. The shirt has gained notoriety on the web, and has led to fanart and fan mods which put the shirt into various games.
Origin
The earliest known post of the shirt was on Tumblr on April 11th, 2014. Tumblr user inkpanic posted a picture of the shirt.[1] Then on April 15th, 2014, Tumblr user feitclub replied to the image with the following caption:[2]
“Hey, how do you spell Massachusetts?”
“How should I know? Just grab a handful of Scrabble tiles and let fate decide.”
Tumblr user kaible quickly replied to the post with "this is like a beautiful unicorn of mispellings".[3] The Tumblr post (shown below) received over 213,000 notes in over eight years.
Spread
An AskReddit question of "What's the worst Knock-Off item you've ever seen" was posted and a commenter under the name of SinkTube reposted a link to the Tumblr post which garnered over 3.7k upvotes.[4] The photo was also posted to r/Boston[5] on Reddit where it received 1.1k upvotes.
