The Bobbi Althoff Leaked Video refers to a fake AI-generated deepfake video showing a woman with interviewer Bobbi Althoff's face touching herself. The video spread on Twitter / X and Reddit in late February 2024, generating reactions, discourse and memes en masse. Outrage was akin to many reactions from users who felt that the tweets and posts were engagement bait. Memes using the caption "Sending the Bobbi Althoff and Rubi Rose leaks to everyone who interacts with this post" parodied the slew of tweets that spread the hoax alongside the rumor of a Rubi Rose leaked video, which spread on the same day.

Origin

On February 20th, 2024, X^[1] user @destroynectar tweeted a photo of interviewer and podcaster Bobbi Althoff, captioning it (misspelling her name), "Bobbi Athoff got leaked (dont check hidden) 💀," referencing the tweet's hidden replies. In a day, the tweet received over 17.7 million views and 28,000 likes (shown below).

The tweet received a Community Note ^[2] on the day of its upload, which stated that the video was an AI-generated deepfake and that it was not Althoff in the video. The note linked to the website of British law firm Farrer & Co.^[3] regarding "The legal issues surrounding deepfakes and AI content," which claimed that the spread of deepfake content is an actionable offense.

Likely after the Community Note was rated "helpful" by X's userbase, X^[1] user @destroynectar disabled the hidden replies on his post seemingly as a way to deter outrage and possible legal action.

Reactions and memes about @destroynectar's post surfaced on the day of, like a quote shared by X^[4] user @HoesLuvTravis on February 20th, 2024, reading, "bring back the ran through bot tweets man wtf is this new format," gaining over 1,000 likes in a day (shown below, left).

X^[5] user @brndxix posted a quote with a similar statement later on February 20th, additionally referencing the concept of having a "twitter check" to make "less than minimum wage." The quote received over 47,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).

More bait tweets surfaced on February 20th, 2024, like a post shared by X^[6] user @justbrown__ that read, "Who has Bobbi Althoff & Rubi Rose leak vid? Asking for a friend." The tweet received over 5,700 likes in a day.

In turn, others started to parody the bait tweets, like X^[7] user @TreyTrey37 on February 20th, who posted a video of a woman telling someone to shut up, captioned, "'SENDING RUBI ROSE AND BOBBI ALTHOFF LEAK TO EVERYONE WHO-'" The tweet received over 271,600 views and 220 likes in one day (shown below).

Bobbi Althoff's Response

On February 21st, 2024, Bobbi Althoff responded to the leaked video rumor on her Instagram story, writing, "Hate to disappoint you all, but the reason I'm trending is 100% not me & is definitely AI generated" (shown below, left).

The screenshot was posted by X^[8] user @destroynectar on February 21st, 2024, who wrote, "Bobbi Althoff if you see this I apologize," gaining 750 likes in a day (shown below, right).

She claimed that her "team" had reached out to her, wondering if the video was real. Her story was recorded and posted to Instagram^[9] by DJ Akademiks on February 21st, 2024, gaining over 39,700 likes in a day (shown below).
