Origin

On Novermber 21st, 2016, Twitter account @blessediimages^[4] posted their photo of a baby goat with the caption "blessed image 1" (shown below). The tweet has accumulated over 406 likes and 250 retweets in three years. The idea of the Blessed Image came in reaction to the spread of Cursed Images.

The @blessediimages Twitter account gained over 8,400 followers in three years. Blessed Images spread outside of Twitter to the subreddit r/blessedimage^[2] which has acquired over 329,000 members in three years. The success of the initial Twitter account was reported on by The Daily Dot^[1] in 2016 and on August 22nd, 2018, Urban Dictionary^[3] user AntisocialWeeb defined blessed image as "The exact opposite of a cursed image, meaning an image of adorable or pure nature."
