About
Andy's Room Changing Decor or the "Strange Things" Scene is a clip from the 1995 animated film Toy Story in which Woody watches Andy's room change from being themed around him to being themed around Buzz Lightyear, including the posters on his wall and his bed sheets fading from Woody to Buzz imagery. The scene, which is set to the song "Strange Things" by Randy Newman, became the subject of memes on X / Twitter as early as January 2024, in which it's used to visualize something changing in a drastic way.
Origin
In the 1995 Disney Pixar animated film Toy Story, Andy's favorite toy, Woody, is overcome by jealousy when Andy starts to favor a Buzz Lightyear toy over him. In one scene, a musical montage set to Randy Newman's "Strange Things," Woody watches as Buzz becomes increasingly popular not only with Andy but with the other toys. The scene includes several fades in which the posters in Andy's room change from Woody- to Buzz-themed and the bed sheets also change in the same way (shown below).
